The Australian wine industry owes its reputation to the ideas, techniques and grape varieties taken from other countries. We have borrowed the best of old   world traditions and used them to make our wines.

Eclectic Wines Shiraz 2011

Screen Shot 2014-11-13 at 5.23.20 PM.png

Originally from Persia, Shiraz was first established in the Hunter Valley in the 1820’s and produces the great wines of the Rhone Valley. The grapes were handpicked from our Hermitage Road vineyard and immediately crushed into an open vat fermenter. The quality of the 2011 Vintage was exceptionally high in the Hunter Valley with the rain that affected most parts of South and East Australia thankfully skirting the Hunter. The cap was plunged during fermentation and the wine was transferred to 3 year old barrels (75%) and 25% new French oak. Matured in Bottle for 2 years before release this is a rich soft and flavoursome wine showing ripe blackberry, mulberry and spice on the nose. The wine is framed by subtle oak integration and the palate exhibits softness and flavour, typical of a Hunter Shiraz from a good vintage. Drink now or mature further for another 15 years.
